Club 02 - What Makes Carnival Cruise Lines so Special
There were times in which cruising was more or less a kind of high-class vacation, but as time went by, it became more and more popular and a more easily accessible pastime for everybody.
Generally, teenagers aren't too enthusiastic about going on holidays with their parents. To change their minds about family vacations, the Carnival Cruise Lines came up with a programme called the Club 02, which fits young people's ideas about a really cool holiday. With the Coca-Cola company as a sponsor for this project, Club 02 offers a large variety of entertainment for teenagers from 14 to17 years of age. Recently, the programme was adopted on the 21 :Fun Ships" of the same Cruise Line.
Young people love to party, so a "Welcome party" as the first event on board is perfect for getting them into a relaxed mood. On this party they have the chance to meet up with the other teenagers, as well as to get more information about all the fun things they can do on board.
To give the youngsters the right locations and enough space to feel comfortable, there are lounges and dance floors of 1,000 up to 1,800 feet. In the bar area, called the Coke-tail lounge, several different Coca-cola products are served, of course all alcohol free, since the Club 02 members are all under 21. The Club 02 programme also comprises video game lounges with a large number of gaming systems and monitors.
And since young people see it as a survival challenge to do without the latest music, there are listening stations located in the same area, where they can plug in their headphones and listen to the newest hits on the radio or to their favorite album.
Game rooms with tables for ping pong, foosball, air hockey, and pool, racing video games, and other arcade games on board are another feature of the 21 "Fun ships" on the Carnival Cruise. The programme also features themed parties just about every night,
usually involving karaoke, which is popular among the older cruisers as well.
What the kids will be enthusiastic about are the several pools on the "Fun ships" At least one of them can be entered by rushing through a large twisting water slide. And in the Club 02 areas the pool lounges provide a 24-hour pizza and ice cream service
for the teenage night owls.
?
On some of the Carnival Cruise liners there are even miniature golf courses. And even on the land, the Club 02 programme arranges for fun activities like guided and group oriented excursions which include tours or scuba diving, shopping or just hanging
around together on the beach. That will give you the chance to have some time alone ashore as well.
