A Word from the Wise
You must have searched high and low for some matter for cruise, isn't it? That is the main reason we compiled this article for you to get that required matter!
If you're new to cruising, you can benefit a lot from the advice given by experienced cruisers. Their stories can provide useful tips on how to make the most of your cruise and avoid unpleasant surprises.
Paperwork and identification
At the airport or the customs, you will be required to show your passport or identification ?possibly even your cruise ticket. Knowing where you have them and being able to produce them quickly will save you a lot of stress and embarrassment. A small case like a business card holder could contain them all. Make sure you keep it in an easily accessible, yet safe place.
It's a good idea to have copies of all important documents such as your driving license or passport or visa. The same goes for your credit cards and traveler cheques. If you want to feel completely safe, then leave a set of copies at home where someone you trust can get them for you easily, keep one in the ship's safe (or the safe in your cabin, if you have one), and the originals plus another set of copies with you ?in separate places, of course.
Good to remember
If you are lodged in an inner cabin, the absence of direct sunlight will make it impossible to know when it's morning. Having an alarm clock with you is a much more comfortable option than getting up from time to time and climbing to the deck to see if anyone else is up.
You won't wash any clothes during the cruise and you'll probably want to make a distinction between your clean clothes and those you're already worn. A laundry bag will be useful to keep the dirty clothing in it.
There is no standard for the location of the electric outlets in cabins. If they are too far or not easily reachable, then one or two extension cords will come in handy.
Things like shampoo, sunscreen or shower lotion, which might leak, should be kept in bags that won't let the rest of your things get stained or wet. Medicines should also be kept in separate bags - clear Ziploc baggies are a good option for both categories of items. Since they are transparent, you won't need to open them for customs or security officials to see what's inside.
Keep in touch
Prepaid phone cards are a cheaper option than using the phones on the ship. If you want to use your cell phone, call your service provider to obtain an extension of your calling area and ask them about the approximate cost of making and receiving calls and of any possible special rates.
Some of the matter found here that is pertaining to cruise seems to be quite obvious. You may be surprised how come you never knew about it before!
You'll love taking pictures, so don't forget to take enough batteries and extra memory cards for your camera. If you have rechargeable batteries, remember to bring the charger. If you're using a camera with film, be aware that security scanners can ruin the film, so keep it in a place where that won't be a concern.
Any experienced cruiser will tell you how much nicer it is when you can get a close look at things. Binoculars will give you a much better view of the surrounding beauty.
One more word of advice. Of course you would like everything to go perfectly, but don't see it as a tragedy if it doesn't. Don't spend unique moments of your vacation worrying about a stain on your clothes or a ruined camera film. Don't miss the big picture - you're on a lovely holiday, cruising away from your everyday worries. You are there to enjoy yourself.
